Scott & White to open emergency hospital in Cedar Park
- Community-based hospital advances new model for emergency medicine, in-patient care in Central Texas -
ROUND ROCK, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare announced today it will open an emergency hospital at 900 E. Whitestone Boulevard in Cedar Park on February 27. Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park will be the first community-based hospital in Central Texas advancing this new model for emergency medical and inpatient care.
Unlike urgent care centers, which are designed to handle non-life-threatening medical complaints, or free-standing emergency departments, Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park will be a licensed hospital, adhering to the highest standards of licensing, clinical quality, and operations. This facility is designed to provide a highly efficient, patient-centered experience. The new emergency hospital will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and staffed with emergency medicine physician specialists, as well as experienced nursing and clinical staff. The facility will have an emergency department with seven beds, diagnostic imaging including X-ray, a CT scanner and ultrasound, a laboratory, and an eight bed inpatient unit for those requiring an admission for additional medical services.
Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park is the result of the health system’s continued leadership in providing care in an area that has experienced robust population growth.
"We are pleased to offer this community the access to additional Scott & White services and to provide emergency care options for residents in western Williamson County," said Ernie Bovio, chief executive officer for Scott & White Healthcare - Round Rock Region.
"When you have a heart attack or stroke, minutes count. Our Cedar Park Emergency Hospital delivers care that can treat emergent medical needs and admit patients for routine hospital care."
"When you or a loved one is sick, whether it is an emergency medical need or when a hospital stay is necessary, we know how important it is to have quality care available and accessible in your neighborhood," said John Wood, RN, chief executive officer for Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park. "We are committed to providing the kind of care we would want for our own families."
Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park will offer emergency medical and inpatient care that is "patient-centric" in its innovative approach. From the moment the patient enters the facility, the experienced medical staff, systems and technology will be ready to meet the patients’ needs in a way that is convenient, accessible, efficient and compassionate. While the concept of emergency hospitals is new to the Central Texas Region, Scott & White Emergency Hospital at Cedar Park will draw from Scott & White’s established and trusted reputation as a leader in health care.
