Scott & White holds auction for Be The Match Registry®
- Online auction to benefit bone marrow transplant registrants -
TEMPLE, Texas – Scott & White Marrow Donor Program will host its first online auction from September 18 to October 2 in an effort to raise funds to help find a cure for life-threatening blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma. This event is sponsored by Eddy Lange’s Associated Auctioneers, LLC (Texas License 7100) for the benefit of the Scott & White Marrow Donor Program. The goal is to help Be The Match Registry®, a National Marrow Donor Program, raise $25,000 by October 2 to help fund the registration process during the recruitment of more Central Texas registrants.
Starting today through September 18, anyone can help by donating items, such as furniture, vehicles, recreational equipment, and antiques. By cleaning out closets, attics, and garages and donating these items, auction participants can make the difference for patients in need of a marrow transplant. As more Central Texans register, the odds increase for a patient finding a match they need.
For more information about the auction or how to donate items, visit www.sw.org/be-the-match-auction or call Stephanie Jardot at 254-421-1675.
About Scott & White Marrow Donor Program/ Be The Match Registry®
The Scott & White Marrow Donor Program is a network partner to Be The Match®, a bone marrow transplant registry operated through the National Marrow Donor Program. Each year, thousands of adults and children are diagnosed with blood cancers, such as leukemia, and other life-threatening diseases. By increasing the number of diverse donors on the registry, patients have the best chance of finding a compatible match.
Joining the Be The Match Registry® is a simple process involving the completion of a health questionnaire and a cheek swab test to determine the registrant’s “tissue type”. Those who are interested should be between the ages of 18 and 44, be in good general health and willing to consider donating a small amount of marrow or blood stem cells to any patient should they be identified as a match to a patient needing a donor.
