Soft Tissue Sarcomas

Our Tumor Board Sets Us Apart

As a patient at Scott & White, in addition to having a highly experienced Integrated Care Team, you'll also benefit from the expertise of the Scott & White Tumor Board.

Led by senior staff, our multidisciplinary, collaborative board of sarcoma cancer experts not only discuss standard approaches to care, they also formulate patient-specific treatment plans. This treatment planning approach helps ensure you receive the highest quality, individualized care.

Soft tissue sarcomas begin in the soft tissues of your body — your muscles, nerves and fat, for example. As a result, they can be difficult to diagnose and a challenge to treat.

But because we’re a high-volume cancer center, the orthopedic oncologists at Scott & White Bone & Joint Institute — in the long-standing Scott & White tradition — have the experience and skill required to provide you with world-class cancer care.

You’ll receive unrivaled, compassionate care throughout your treatment.

Soft Tissue Sarcoma

There are approximately 15,000 new cases of soft tissue sarcoma occurring annually in the United States, mostly in adults.

The treatment varies based on soft tissue sarcoma type – of which there are more than 50. Surgery is almost always part of the treatment.

To offer the best combination therapy possible, the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology works closely with:

. . . and many others.

These surgeries are never the same from site to site, and absolutely require a multidisciplinary team approach.

All sarcoma cases are reviewed in our multidisciplinary sarcoma tumor board meeting prior to definitive treatment.
