About Us
Scott & White Prescription Services (SWPS) provides a family of prescription benefit management (PBM) services to over a quarter of a million members including private employers, school systems, hospitals and health plans including Scott & White Health Plan.
What We Do
Our nationally recognized PBM clinical services are a valuable commodity in the rapidly changing benefits marketplace.
Innovative drug rider design provides clinically appropriate cost containment while delivering a high level of customer satisfaction.
SWPS administers a varying array of prescription benefits to TPAs, HMOs, self-insured and Medicare Part D customers.
SWPS utilizes a unique clinical perspective, member education and a full-disclosure pricing model, in the development of all managed prescription programs.
Preferred Drug List
A major part of the approach involves utilization of the Scott & White preferred drug list by SWPS for prescription benefit management.
The preferred drug list has been developed based on outcome-related clinical trials and drug research performed by Scott & White clinical pharmacists and physicians, recommendations from Scott & White physicians and evidence-based decisions from the Scott & White Health Plan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. The committee is composed of primary care and sub-specialist physicians, pharmacists and nurses.
As part of the benefits structure, the Preferred Drug List provides generic utilization at the lowest possible co-pay as an incentive design. Simply, the net result is a drug list unbiased by professional affiliations with drug manufacturers and a proven resource for cost containment and improved outcomes.
