Fellowship Benefits
Stipends for Fellows:
The currently approved stipend is outlined below and is applicable to the approved year of training. The current schedule is:
Post Graduate Year Stipend
- PGY – 6 $49, 537.11
- PGY – 7 $50,877.05
(Effective July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009)
Insurance Benefits:
- Payflex Plan - allows payment of medical/dental premiums with pre-tax dollars, and allows you to set aside tax-free dollars for out-of-pocket medical, dental or child care expenses.
- Professional Liability Insurance - Professional liability insurance covering medical activities clearly defined within the scope of the fellowship program is provided at no cost to the fellow.
- Health Insurance - provided, including group accident income plan coverage through the Scott & White Health Plan.
- Additional dependent coverage is available.
- Dental - optional through MetLife Dental.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment– optional through Scott & White
- Additional dependent coverage is available
- Long-term Disability Insurance - provided through TMAIT.
- Additional coverage is available
- Term Life Insurance coverage - provided through TMAIT - $50,000 (additional coverage available)
- Additional dependent coverage is available
Vacation and Leave:
- Vacation: three weeks per year
- Sick Leave: 13 days per year
- Educational Leave: one week per year
- Maternity and Paternity Leave: combinations of all PTO (Paid Time Off) and FMLA as allowed by the Surgery Residenc Review Committee
- Bereavement, Military and Interview Leave also available
Meals:
Call meals allowance while on duty
Uniforms, computers and pagers:
- Pagers provided
- Lab coats and scrub suits provided
Paid Memberships:
Paid membership to AMA, TMA and Bell County Medical Association
Other Benefits:
- Free reserved parking
- Fees paid for life support certification courses including BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS and NALS
- Funding provided for professional presentations at state and national meetings
