Application Process and Requirements

Applicants to the Vascular Surgery Program at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine/Scott & White (TAMHSCCOM/S&W) must have completed an approved residency in General Surgery and be eligible for the qualifying and certifying examinations of the American Board of Surgery by the time they are to enter the program. Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Interviews are by invitation only.

Application requirements:

  • ERAS application
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Personal Statement
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • USMLE Board Scores
  • American Board of Surgery In-training (ABSITE) exams
  • Notarized copy of ECFMG Certificate

All applications are reviewed by the Vascular Surgery Interview Committee. Applicants who are considered highly qualified for appointment will be invited for a personal interview, which is an important factor in the final selection. This will provide the applicant an opportunity to visit the institution and meet the vascular surgery faculty.

The Division of Vascular Surgery conducts formal interview sessions each year. At the interview session, the program director provides an introduction to TAMHSCCOM/S&W and the Vascular Surgery Program. Applicants also have an opportunity to meet with the current vascular fellow. Each applicant is interviewed by the vascular surgery faculty members.

Our program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and adheres to their policies and guidelines.
