The Neuroradiology section provides resident rotations on CT, MR and a subrotation on Interventional Radiology. Excellent rapport with colleagues in the Neurosurgery, Neurology and ENT departments provides valuable clinical correlation.
The neuro CT rotation is staffed by one senior staff member and one resident. Case experience consists of both brain and spine imaging as well as ENT imaging in the form of sinus, neck and temporal bone studies. Hands-on experience with myelography is also provided.
The neuro MR rotation is staffed by one senior staff member and one resident. Extensive experience in both brain and spine imaging is provided. In addition, advanced imaging techniques — including contrast enhanced MRA, diffusion weighted imaging, functional imaging and spectroscopy — are also performed.
While on the Interventional Radiology rotation, exposure to cerebral angiography is provided. Interventional neuroradiologist Dr. Walter Lesley performs endovascular coiling of intracranial aneurysms as well as embolotheraphy for intracranial arteriovenous malformations. Residents will also be exposed to spine injection procedures for pain management and vertebroplasty on the Interventional Radiology rotation.
