Podiatric Surgery Research

All residents are required to participate in clinical research at some level throughout the twenty-four month program. A paper suitable for publication is required during each of the two years, but only one of these may be a case report. It is expected that the resident will actively participate as the primary investigator or work closely with the primary investigator in a bonafide research funded project.

An active Biostatistics Department headed by two doctoral-level biostatisticians is available and funded by Scott & White. All varieties of statistical analyses and assistance in the design of appropriate investigational models are available through this group.

Scott & White provides assistance in terms of a Publications Office in the Research and Education Division. This office is available to assist all Scott & White (staff and resident) authors in preparing their manuscripts for submission to journals, preparing grant applications (internal and otherwise) and formatting syllabi for continuing medical education presentations. Services available include manuscript formatting and editing, acting as a liaison with Biomedical Communications/Illustrations to prepare figures and corresponding with editors/publishers. When an article is accepted for publication, the Publications Office orders and maintains reprints for distribution.
