Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Residency Program

The Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency is based at Scott & White Clinic and Hospital and is a 36-month rotation.

The program's strengths are its clinical orientation and preparation, the close association of the faculty members interested in teaching, and the broad and varied patient population for whom Scott & White provides care.

Rotations include:

  • Podiatric surgery and clinic
  • Radiology
  • Endocrinology
  • Anesthesiology
  • Vascular surgery
  • Orthopedics (general, trauma, foot and ankle clinic)
  • Emergency medicine
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • Pathology
  • Psychology

All patients at Scott & White are "teaching patients" and no distinction is made with respect to "private" patients. Institutionally, the podiatry service is a division of the Department of Surgery. The podiatry residency program is sponsored by Scott & White Memorial Hospital and is academically affiliated with Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.

Scott & White Hospital is a 500-bed facility with over 28,000 admissions annually. Scott & White Clinic is a group practice of over 700 physicians and scientists. The clinic serves 1 million patient visits per year as a primary care provider for Central Texas, as well as a tertiary care center for the Southwest United States and Mexico. There are over two dozen satellite Scott & White clinics in Central Texas. The podiatry clinic last year had over 19,000 patient visits. Scott & White Hospital is currently listed in the top 15 major teaching hospitals in the nation.
