Residents at the Antibiotic Sreamlining Team Meeting
The Infectious Disease rotation offers the resident a program designed to provide experience in treating a variety of different infectious diseases.
The resident will participate in medicine team activities, with emphasis on those patients with infectious disease diagnoses and hematology patients.
Additionally, the resident will round with the Infectious Disease (ID) consulting service which includes daily experience in the Scott & White microbiology laboratory reviewing patient cultures with the ID team and the microbiologists in the laboratory.
Other rotation objectives and requirements will be determined depending on individual needs and interests of the resident and preceptor.

Antibiotic Therapy Streamlining Meeting
The resident will attend medicine morning report and will be involved with the Scott & White Department of Pharmacy/Division of Infectious Diseases Antibiotic Streamlining Team (AST).
Additionally, the resident will have involvement in pharmacokinetic monitoring and antibiotic streamlining for their patients. One infectious disease-related presentation at pharmacy rounds is required. Research and writing opportunities are provided during the rotation.
Overall, the primary responsibilities of the pharmacy resident on the ID rotation are to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients and provide education to medical staff, residents, students and nurses.
