The Children’s Hospital at Scott & White provides residents with the experiences needed to succeed both in general pediatrics and subspecialty pediatrics. The diversity of patients served provides our residents with adequate exposure to both common and unusual pediatric medical conditions. This provides an extensive medical education that will prepare you for private practice or for seeking additional education in the subspecialty of your choice.
The department has over 50 full-time, board certified physicians who are dedicated to ensuring that you receive the best educational opportunity available.
Pediatrics at Scott & White
The Department of Pediatrics was established in 1962 by Drs. Robert Meyer and Howard LeBus. Since its inception, numerous subspecialties have been added, such as gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology and hematology/oncology. Other programs, such as Child Life Services and Summer Camps and Retreats, have also been added to improve the overall care of our patients and their families.
With the opening of the new hospital in January of 2007, the Children’s Hospital at Scott & White now has a larger presence within the organization. This new facility provides state-of-the-art medical and surgical care in a child-friendly environment. General inpatient pediatrics and the intensive care unit are now localized on one floor, which allows for smoother transition of care. The new NICU offers state-of-the-art care to our most fragile patients.
