Goals of Training

The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Scott & White maintains an active clinically based program, providing research experiences in a basic science laboratory and promoting clinically based research. The division offers a two-year training program that is designed to graduate nephrology physicians who are compassionate, caring, expert in the delivery of nephrology services, and who are inculcated with life-long learning skills.

Specific goals of our training program

  1. Evaluation and management of clinical renal disorders in the outpatient and inpatient settings
  2. Training in immunobiology and transplantation nephrology
  3. Preparation and delivery of scientific information with critical appraisal of published literature
  4. Training in clinical and basic laboratory research
  5. Development of a nephrologist who is compassionate, sensitive to cultural issues, uses evidence based medicine, pursues life-long learning, has high ethical standards, is cognizant of systems based practice, who excels in teaching and who has a life-long interest in the development of knowledge
