Annual Summer Party

In late June we gather as a department to welcome the new residents. The staff and residents bring their families and their appetites.

Frequent Social Gatherings

  • Movie Night is held at the home of a resident or senior staff for a family time of fun as frequently as possible. We generally find a reason to get together for fun away from the hospital.
  • Poker Night is another tradition, where we join for Texas Hold ‘Em fun.

Golf Tournaments

Staff and residents combine talents in golf scrambles held periodically at one of the many courses around Temple.

Occasionally, we are joined by other departments to promote good will, but not necessarily good golf.

Department-wide Parties

  • Oktoberfest - Every year during the month of October, a family/social gathering is held at Dr. Stallard's home.
  • Christmas party
  • SuperBowl party
  • Annual Graduation Dinner

Outdoor Activities

Hiking, biking, hunting and fishing are readily available.

About the Area

The local metropolitan area includes the cities of Temple, Belton and Killeen with a total population over 250,000.

Temple is located in the heart of Central Texas. It is sixty miles north of the state capital, Austin, and a two-hour drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth areas and San Antonio. Bryan/College Station and the main campus of Texas A&M University are 90 miles away.

There are several lakes in the area providing ample opportunity to enjoy your summer.

The nearby Texas Hill Country offers miles of camping, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities within a few hours of Temple.

The Bell County Expo Center is the location of numerous recreational activities, such as indoor football, concerts, shows and most of all the yearly Bell County Rodeo.
