Call Duties

PGY-1
During the six-month Metroplex inpatient rotation, Child PGY-1 residents take night call from their home on weekdays for their own inpatients, and once per month take weekend call for the child and adolescent psychiatric unit. Child PGY-1 residents also share call for Scott & White (includes the emergency room, the adult inpatient unit and consultation service) one night per month. In all cases, faculty members from each institution are assigned for supervision and consultation by phone 24 hours per day and in person when appropriate.

PGY-2
Child PGY-2 residents will provide phone call backup (and in person if needed) Monday—Thursday once per month for junior residents evaluating a child or adolescent emergency. Senior staff are assigned for consultation.
