Department Chairman

Kathryn J. Kotrla, M.D. is the Head of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, College of Medicine and Director of Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine, Central Texas Veterans Health Care System.

Dr. Kotrla graduated from Rice University with a B.A. in Biology and Psychology. She received an M.S. in Biology from Stanford University and her Medical Degree from Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Dr. Kotrla obtained her residency training in Psychiatry at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and subsequently completed a fellowship in Clinical Brain Disorders at the National Institute for Mental Health. Her research interest is in both clinical and brain imaging research.
