SALADO, Texas — Texas Governor Rick Perry was on hand for a special Saturday night celebration and benefit in Salado that raised $450,000. The proceeds will help fund construction of a Pediatric Operating Suite in the new Surgical Sciences Building at Scott & White in Temple.

“Tonight we celebrate past success and future dreams,” Scott & White President and CEO Dr. Alfred Knight told event guests. “What we do together tonight, and in the next few years, might be so big that it inspires the next generation. Great things are happening, but the best is yet to come.”

The premier event was the Inaugural Visionaries’ Ball, held at the Charlotte and Morris Foster estate in Salado. More than 750 Scott & White donors and friends gathered to celebrate the success of the completed Phase I of the Vision Campaign, having raised $65 million to support growth of facilities, programs and services at Scott & White, and to launch Phase II.

The second phase of the campaign is titled “Empowering Excellence,” and will be vital in ensuring that Scott & White is equipped to continue offering the best care available. The Phase II priorities will focus on the construction of the new Surgical Sciences Building, the building of the Bone & Joint Institute and the opening of the Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center.

In addition to the governor and his wife, the event was attended by Scott & White board chairman and businessman Drayton McLane, Jr., State Representative Dianne White Delisi, Congressman John Carter and other dignitaries.

Guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions and entertainment by Grammy award-winning western swing band Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, all while providing vital funding to support Scott & White’s Vision.

“The realization of our Phase II priorities will benefit the people of Texas and beyond,” said Chief Development Officer Nancy Birdwell. “Scott & White is very blessed to have supporters who are true to our shared Vision, to become the most Trusted and the most Valued name in American Healthcare.”
