About the Trauma Center
As the only Level I Trauma Center located between Dallas and San Antonio, the Scott & White Trauma Center is a vital participant in the care of injured patients.
Every department and every staff member at Scott & White is part of the Trauma Team.
The Trauma Administrative Office is responsible for the management of the Scott & White Trauma Program and can be contacted at 254-724-1974.
Under the leadership of Michael L. Craun, M.D., F.A.C.S., Trauma Medical Director and Terry Valentino, R.N., E.M.T.-P., Trauma Program Nursing Director, the administrative staff provides support to the multidisciplinary services involved in the care of trauma patients throughout DSHS Trauma Service Area-L.
Administrative
- Provides oversight for trauma patient care from the time of injury until discharge through trauma case management
- Develops multidisciplinary practice guidelines
- Collects statistical data through the Trauma Registry
- Assures compliance with trauma center criteria and supports facilities seeking trauma center designation
- Evaluates processes and care practices through performance improvement and research
- Provides community education to enhance injury prevention and safety
- Provides educational support for prehospital and hospital personnel
