Head of Scott & White's policy center named to top 50 most powerful physicians AMA president-elect recognized by Modern Healthcare, Modern Physician magazines
TEMPLE, Texas - J. James Rohack, M.D., director of the Scott & White Center for Healthcare Policy and president-elect of the American Medical Association (AMA), has been named one of the nation’s 50 most powerful physician executives by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines.
Rohack, attending a meeting at the White House today with President Obama and other industry leaders to address rising health care costs in the U.S., is one of four Texans to receive this national recognition, and the only Central Texas health care executive named.
“We are proud that Dr. Rohack and the Scott & White Center for Healthcare Policy have been recognized for the leadership and perspective they are providing in the national conversation about health care reform,” said Alfred B. Knight, M.D., and president and CEO of Scott & White Healthcare.
Dr. Rohack, who will become the full-time AMA president in June, said that the health care industry will continue to work in concert to propose solutions to the nation’s health care issues. “We all face challenges in providing Americans access to affordable, high quality health care,” said Dr. Rohack. “This meeting represents a huge step in achieving that goal.”
The Center for Healthcare Policy at Scott & White provides information and education at the state and national level to the public, policy makers and elected officials on solutions to the challenges facing health care delivery and financing in Texas and the nation.
