Scott & White local site for President-elect health care discussion

TEMPLE, Texas – (December 23, 2008) The Scott & White Center for Healthcare Policy will host a community discussion on health care policy for the Obama-Biden Transition Project, Tuesday, December 30, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Medical Education Building at 2401 S. 31st Street.

The transition project of President-elect Barack Obama has included opinion gathering events across the country to collect information to help shape health care policy in the new administration.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to speak almost directly to the next president of the United States about health care issues,” said Dr. James Rohack, director of the Scott & White Center for Healthcare Policy. “Health care will be one of the top domestic policy items next year, and this discussion group’s concerns and ideas will be sent directly to the transition project team who will report to the President-elect. After the power to vote, this is a unique chance to influence government.”

The one-hour meeting will use a list of eight questions provided by the transition project to generate the responses. Dr. Rohack will serve as the moderator, and the group will be made up of Scott & White physicians and members of the community.

The meeting is open to the public. Seating is limited.
