Blood Center offering waffles for dinner to increase donations
TEMPLE, Texas –Dinner is served Monday night for donors at the Scott & White Blood Center. From 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, December 1, blood donors will be served a free waffle dinner as a reward for giving that evening. Blood donations collected will be used for patients in the Central Texas area.
“Historically, blood donations decrease across the country during the winter season. However, the demand for blood does not decrease, and holiday travel often increases the amount of accidents and trauma cases at the hospital,” said Scott & White Blood Donor Recruiter Emily Brown. “We are extending our hours to make donating more convenient to help ensure our blood supply remains strong for the community during this holiday season.”
All donors will be treated to homemade waffles with assorted toppings in the Blood Center following their donation. Donors also will receive a free long-sleeved t-shirt, a digital media gift card, a free rose or $5 off any purchase from Precious Memories Florist, and the chance to win a $50 Duck Tavern gift card and a night’s stay at the Residence Inn Marriott in Temple.
To give blood, donors must be 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and have photo identification. All the blood collected will be used for community patients.
The Blood Center is located on the main floor of the hospital at 2401 S. 31st Street in Temple.
