Cardiothoracic Surgery
Meet our Cardiothoracic Surgeons
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery provides a complete spectrum of diagnostic, minimally invasive and traditional surgical solutions to patients requiring surgery for their heart and lung diseases.
The Section of Cardiac Surgery treats patients with acquired and congenital diseases of the heart and great vessels. The Section of Thoracic Surgery treats patients with diseases of the lungs, esophagus and diaphragm.
We aggressively embrace new technologies to offer advanced therapies for our patients and we do it with Scott & White care. For example, we revascularize all important coronary arteries with arterial conduits. We repair valves instead of replacing them whenever possible. Our goal is to attract patients from Texas and beyond because of what we do and how we do it. We are excited about the expected growth of our program resulting from the rapid geographic expansion in Central Texas, increased number of Scott & White outreach locations and the division’s reputation for providing the most advanced cardiac and thoracic care available anywhere.
Our vision for program expansion is broad. There are plans for significant growth in the specialty to better serve our region. Our new Center for Aortic Disease offers a multidisciplinary focus on long-term medical and surgical management of patients with diseases of the great vessels of the body. Our Heart and Lung Transplantation Program will offer a second chance for central Texans with crippling end-stage heart and lung disease. Expansion of the Adult Thoracic Surgical Oncology Program will be a focus of our team in the next few years. This program is a vital part of the new Cancer Center.
