Dr. Gerhard Friehs joined the Scott & White Department of Neurosurgery in 2008, and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.
He is a graduate of the Karl-Franzens University Medical School in Graz, Austria. He interned in that school's Department of Surgery, and completed research and clinical residencies in Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN, and Karl-Franzens University Graz, respectively.
In 1993 Dr. Friehs received an honorable mention by the Austrian Medical Association for his work on Parkinsonism. Later, he received an honorable mention by the same association for his Ph.D. work on new neurosurgical approaches for treatment of Parkinsonism. Dr. Friehs is listed in multiple publications and is known and respected as a speaker in his field.
Dr. Friehs' areas of interest include trauma neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, radiosurgery and neurosurgery for the elderly. Read more »

A surgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at Scott & White, Dr. Frank Harris joined Scott & White in 1994, and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Dr. Harris joined Scott & White after being part of a clinical practice at the Marshfield Clinic's Department of Neurosurgery in Marshfield, WI. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons; AANS/CNS Cerebrovascular Surgery; Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Harris received his medical degree from the University of Indiana. He interned at the University of Florida Medical School and completed his Neurosurgical Residency at that same school. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Harris' areas of interest include cerebrovascular disease, neuro-oncology and radiosurgery. Read more »

Dr. Theodore J. Spinks joined the Scott & White Department of Neurosurgery in June of 2009 as a pediatric neurosurgeon. Dr. Spinks received his undergraduate degree in neurobiology and behavior from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York. Following his residency in neurological surgery from the University of California, Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Spinks completed a Fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
His patient care emphasis is on general pediatric neurosurgery, minimally invasive and endoscopic neurosurgery, pediatric spine surgery, cervical and craniocervical surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spine surgery, endoscopic brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery, vascular neurosurgery and Moya Moya disease, Epilepsy surgery, Chiari malformations and Spina Bifida. Dr. Charles Wright joined the Scott & White Department of Neurosurgery in 2008, and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. He is board-certified in Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Wright received a Master's degree in Science from Stanford University in California before attending the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Rockford, IL. Following a surgical internship at the University of California San Diego, he served as a resident and, later, chief resident in their Department of Neurological Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
His professional interests include intra-cranial surgery for malignancy and vascular disease, brachial plexus and peripheral nerve surgery, epilepsy surgery, intra-operative cortical mapping and complex spinal surgery. Read more »

Dr. Vasilios A. Zerris is Vice-Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery, Chief of Neurosurgery at Scott & White Healthcare - Round Rock and is Director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery at Scott & White. He is also an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.
Dr. Zerris received his medical degree (with Distinction) from Brown University in Providence, R.I., as well as an M.P.H. degree from Harvard University and an M.M.Sc in Neuroscience from Brown University. His postgraduate education includes a surgical internship at New England Medical Center, and Neurosurgery residencies at Boston Institute of Neurosurgery at NEMC Tufts University Medical School; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University Medical School; and the Lahey Clinic, Lahey Clinic Foundation. Dr. Zerris also completed a Complex Spine Surgery Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Harvard University Medical School, and a Pain and Functional Neurosurgery Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University Medical School. Dr. Zerris is also a prolific scholar and his book chapters, original reports and presentations on neurosurgery and related topics have gained him national recognition.
Dr. Zerris' special areas of interest include back pain, minimally invasive cranial and spinal surgery, endoscopic pituitary surgery, metastatic brain tumors and stereotactic radiosurgery. Read more »
