The objective is to provide the runners with the fluids they need along the course as well as encouragement. The rest stop with the most spirit will be awarded the annual Miracle Match Marathon Spirit Award at the conclusion of the marathon. There will be two Spirit Awards - one for the most spirited rest stop along the half-marathon route, and one for the most spirited rest stop along the full marathon route.

Some rest stops will have fruit for the runners and some will also have portable toilets. The host organization will be responsible for handing the runners drinks as they come by the rest stop and cheering them on. Organizations are encouraged to carry a theme through their rest stop by using banners, costumes, music and cheers. Sponsoring organization will also be listed on the marathon website http://mmm.sw.org.
