Low Vision and Visual Rehabilitation
Low vision is a term for vision loss that cannot be reversed by glasses, medication or surgery.
Patients suffering from macular degeneration and other vision problems receive detailed testing, evaluation and rehabilitation.
Low vision care is not a surgical procedure or medicinal treatment but a rehabilitative program to teach you new strategies to maximize your remaining vision. This can include optical, electronic or adaptive devices to help you accomplish your day to day tasks.
The Eye Institute offers a variety of low vision devices including
- Hand held magnifiers
- Stand magnifiers
- Telescopic devices
