The Office of Research Laboratory Compliance and Support (ORLCS) is a component of Scott& White's Research and Education (R&E) Division.It is under the direction of the Executive Associate Dean, Temple Campus, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, College of Medicine (TAMUSHSC COM) and theChief Academic Officer of Scott & White.

The office provides safety oversight and administration, personnel training, coordination of hazardous and radiological waste disposals, and core equipment support for the medical research laboratories. The office is staffed by Radiation Safety Officers and Research Radiation and Safety Coordinators. ORCLS works in conjunction with the Scott & White Environment of Care Council, Animal Facility, Medical Research Building (MRB) Radiation Safety Committee, Research Compliance Office, Grants Administration Office, TAMUSHSC Research Office and the TAMUSHSC COM Building Superintendent.Supported laboratories are those within the TAMUSHSC COM, Medical Research Building (MRB) on the Scott & White campus, and the Cancer Research Institute on the West Campus.The MRB houses a core equipment room, dark room, glass washing room, autoclaves and radio pharmacy facilities.

The ORLCS works with principal investigators, research scientists, post-doctoral fellows, residents, research assistants and technicians in all aspects of medical research in providing general laboratory, personnel and safety regulation support. Researchers are encouraged to contact the office for assistance in safely setting up and operating their laboratories. The staff will insure that new projects meet the safety regulations of the institution, as well as those of the state and/or federal government. The staff also assists in personnel hiring and required safety training. Personnel training include general building life safety, laboratory safety, animal hazard awareness, radiation awareness and general and site-specific radiation safety training.
