Focusing on the Future

Glen Brindley, M.D.

“There are not many places that offer the complete spectrum of eye care, but that is what patients find here at Scott & White. We have the state-of-the-art facility, high-tech equipment, Scott and White Optical, fellowship trained staff and a commitment to research, all in one location. Patients can’t find that combination too many places, but they can find it at the Scott & White Eye Institute.”

– Glen Brindley, M.D., Director of the Divison of Ophthalmology

The spring opening of the new Scott & White Eye Institute represents a milestone in the history of Scott & White. The commitment to our ophthalmology patients has been unwavering for more than 50 years, but as we open the doors to our new state-of-the-art facility, we are ushering in a new era of eye care in Central Texas.

“The Scott & White ophthalmology division has always offered expert care to our patients, and that will not change,” said Glen Brindley, M.D., Director of the Division of Ophthalmology. “But what will change is how we offer that care. We have a new facility that will allow us to increase our staff, enhance our technology and offer patients the most comprehensive care they can find, all in a setting designed to make their experience as enjoyable as possible.”

The new Scott & White Eye Institute, located in the Scott & White Pavilion, offers every subspecialty available in ophthalmology. Our board-certified ophthalmologists and excellent team of optometrists treat the entire spectrum of eye care, from advanced surgical procedures, to fitting for glasses to handling eye emergencies 24 hours a day.

While Scott & White has always offered contact lens services, the new Institute will offer the latest advances in contact lenses and will provide a full range of lenses for a variety of conditions. Patients can order new lenses by phone or online and have them delivered directly to their door. Patients can also be specially fitted with custom made contact lenses for a variety of conditions.

As part of the commitment to offer that comprehensive care, a new optical area will also open that will offer custom-made lenses and frames for patients. There will be over 1,000 different frames to choose from in a spectrum of designs and prices, many available in an hour. It will be open six days a week and offer extended hours.

“We have never had the facilities or personnel to be able to offer our patients glasses made here at Scott & White,” Dr. Brindley said. “But our new Scott and White Optical will have a state-of-the-art lab to make glasses on site, which once again proves our commitment to offer quality and convenience to our patients.”

Teamwork has always been the cornerstone of the ophthalmology division, and the new Scott & White Eye Institute has been built around that teamwork. In addition to our specially trained doctors, members of our support staff are nationally certified in their specialties.
