Scott & White Nephrology Clinics offers a wide range of medical services and highly skilled expertise. All Scott & White nephrologists are experienced in Renal Biopsy.
Patients come from throughout Texas and the Southwest for comprehensive care provided by board-certified nephrologists. A wide range of disease states can be treated through the Division of Nephrology, including but not limited to the following uncommon conditions:
- Alport’s
- Medullary cystic disease
- Heavy metal nephropathy
Scott & White nephrologists frequently provide expertise, second opinions and referrals from outside the Scott & White system. Full-service nephrology consultations guarantee prompt service and complete cooperation with referring physicians. Scott & White’s extensive diagnostic services are located under one roof at the main clinic in Temple, thus assuring patients convenience and compassionate care.

Nephrology Renal Biopsy
Facts about Scott & White's Renal Biopsies
- Biopsies are both ultrasound guided and directed
- Biopsies are performed in the 4A treatment room minor surgery suite
- We have immediate frozen sections and same day light microscopy
- A Ph.D. tissue pathologist handles all of our biopsy samples in the biopsy area
- The tissue is viewed both by the pathologist and the nephrologist at the time of biopsy using a dissecting microscope to insure that adequate tissue has been obtained
- Scott & White has its own electron microscope and two pathologists, Dr. Kathleen Jones and Dr. Arundhati Rao.
- All biopsies are reviewed by pathology and all of the nephrologists at the bi-monthly renal biopsy conference where diagnosis and management of the case are discussed.
Hospital Services
Our hospital service provides all care for our dialysis and clinic patients who require hospitalization. We offer a full range of hospital consultative nephrology for Scott & White.
- We have an acute dialysis units with four stations using Fresenius H- series machines
- We monitor ultrafiltration with the Critline-3 system manufactured by in-line diagnostics
- We offer citrate anti-coagulation for a no-heparin dialysis procedure
- We have dedicated acute dialysis nurses who are R.N.s and are among our most experienced nurses in our dialysis unit
- Hemofiltration for drug overdose is available as are CVVH and CAVH
- Our preferred methods of vascular access acutely are femoral vein cannulation and subclavian or internal jugular cannulation.
- We utilize Vas-CathTMand TessioTM catheter systems
- We offer around-the-clock consultation and dialysis
