With advances in psychiatric care over the past decade, all of our patients benefit from state-of-the-art approaches to diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. A special aspect of clinical practice in our systems of care is that we each have primary responsibility for a large, well defined population in Central Texas—health plan members, veterans, military personnel and their dependents, retirees and a large indigent population. At each training institution, our clinical faculty and trainees stand ready to provide the highest standard of mental health care.
Scott & White Hospital

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science provides inpatient, outpatient and specialized diagnostic and treatment services throughout Central Texas, where the Scott & White Health Plan draws its membership; and to patients from throughout the region and Latin America who come to the Scott & White Clinic for specialty care.
Scott & White Hospital has consistently been named to the Thompson 100 Top Hospitals in the nation. Based on clinical excellence, operating efficiency and community responsiveness, a recent Thompson benchmark study named Scott & White among the elite major teaching hospitals in the country.
Scott & White Hospital, a 463-bed, not-for-profit institution, offers a full range of medical services, from advanced trauma services to neonatal intensive care to transplant technology.
The hospital is staffed by the physicians of Scott & White Clinic, the largest multispecialty medical practice in Texas and one of the largest in the nation. All Scott & White physicians in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science hold faculty appointments with the Texas A&M College of Medicine. Scott & White has sponsored residencies for more than 75 years.
Scott & White opened a new 300-bed hospital at University Medical Campus in Round Rock in 2007. Also, a state-of-the-art new hospital with 417 beds opened on the Temple campus in December 2006.
