Psychiatry and Behavioral Science Residency Program

Scott & White and Texas A&M Health Science Center have joined forces to create a leading Graduate Medical Education program.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Scott & White Hospital / Texas A&M Health Sciences Center School of Medicine is dedicated to the provision of patient and family-centered nationally acclaimed healthcare, outstanding medical education, comprehensive clinical and didactic training, and active participation in research.

Graduates from this program excel in the practice of modern psychiatry, trained to approach patient care with a full understanding of the biological, psychological, social and cultural factors which influence mental illness and treatment.

Located in Central Texas, Scott & White is the only university-based hospital and Level I trauma center in the county. It offers both acute and general care services to Central Texas acting as a referral center with a service area of approximately a 200-mile radius or more, which serves a diverse patient population that crosses both socio economic and racial groupings. This ensures our residents will have a broad range of training and provides a much needed service to the region's mentally ill.

Scott & White is consistently named to the Thomson 100 Top Hospitals in the country based on clinical excellence, operating efficiency and community responsiveness.

In a recent Thomson benchmark study, Scott & White also ranked among the Top 15 Major Teaching Hospitals, placing it among the elite major teaching hospitals in the nation.
