Pediatrics Residency Program

The Department of Pediatrics offers a three-year residency for physicians who plan to devote their professional lives to the care of infants, children and adolescents. The program is based at The Children's Hospital at Scott & White, the primary teaching hospital of The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Our approach to child health care emphasizes comprehensive, personalized care with a strong appreciation of the humanistic and developmental aspects of pediatrics.
Residents will progressively increase their responsibility in patient care while under supervision of experienced, dedicated faculty. The department has over 40 full-time members in:
- General Pediatrics
- Adolescent Medicine
- Allergy/Immunology
- Child Development and Genetics

All staff are board certified by the appropriate specialty and subspecialty boards.
Upon completion of the program, residents are prepared to enter the private practice of pediatrics or seek additional education in pediatric subspecialties. Approximately two-thirds of recent graduates have chosen primary care and one-third have entered competitive academic fellowships.
There are six positions at each Pediatric Level (PL-1, PL-2, PL-3) and one junior staff position, the Carey M. Pearcy Chief Resident. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). All recent graduates of the program have been certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
