Department Chairman
Welcome to our website and thank you for your interest in our Pathology Department’s Residency and Fellowship Programs. We offer excellent training for physicians in anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as hematopathology, cytopathology and surgical pathology fellowships. At the completion of the residency program, graduating residents will have been well trained to enter either private practice, academic medicine or a fellowship program.
Some of the advantages of our training programs include the following:
- Well-organized rotations and electives.
- A wide variety of interesting cases.
- Large numbers of frozen sections.
- Excellent one-on-one staff to resident teaching.
- Opportunities for medical student teaching.
- Subspecialty expertise among the staff.
- Excellent subspecialty experiences in required and elective rotations, especially in forensic pathology, hematopathology, cytopathology, FNA, molecular genetic pathology, gastroenterology, kidney, GU, skin and liver.
- Opportunities to participate in productive research programs.
- A pleasant low-key collegial atmosphere that promotes learning.
Some advantages of our Central Texas location:
- A relatively small, safe town with no traffic problem and good schools. In other words, a wholesome place to raise a family. You may even be able to find that small farm you have always wanted.
- Large, clean recreational lakes nearby for sailing, skiing, and fishing.
- While Temple has ample opportunities for shopping and cultural activities, we are very close to Austin, the live music capital of the world, with its myriad venues, theaters, museums and excellent restaurants.
- Dallas, San Antonio and Houston are farther away, but each an easy day trip from Temple.
We would welcome your application for any of our programs. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give me a call at 254-724-3689.
