The Division of Ambulatory Care was created in January 1993. The goals of the Division of Ambulatory Care are:
- To continually evaluate the healthcare delivery process (access to care), including appointment availability for emergency and routine patients, phone access, waiting time, exam room availability and secretarial and nursing needs.
- To organize patient education within our department to accurately and efficiently give our patients information on various gynecologic, obstetric and non-Ob/Gyn healthcare issues.
- To promote the strengths, abilities and interests of each of the generalists and nurse practitioners in our department.
- To educate students, residents and other health care providers in all areas of ambulatory obstetrics and gynecology.
- To better organize and promote outpatient research in ambulatory care areas.
- To set minimum standards of care in areas such as hormone replacement therapy, contraception, cancer screening and evaluation and treatment of abnormal bleeding.
- To assure that we are meeting the healthcare needs of our patients who use us as their primary care physicians.
- To continually evaluate the cost effectiveness and necessity of various procedures performed on an outpatient basis.
