Support Group

Before and after your surgery our caring and supportive staff are excited to help you start a whole new life. Not only will you gain health, energy and confidence, but also assurance that you have a strong and dependable support group available to you.

The Bariatric Support Group meets weekly. Pattie Knapp R.N., M.S., L.P.C. facilitates the first three weeks. The fourth group, led by Paulette Whitfield, A.N.P., is a Life Change Group for pre-surgical candidates. At least one Life Style Change Group must be attended prior to surgery.

The purpose of this patient group is to share experiences and assist each other in the pre- and post-operative process of this weight loss program. You will receive guidance to help aid your recovery and reinforce new eating habits. Attendance is strongly recommended at least monthly after surgery.

The support group can also find an Angel for you. An Angel is a mentor who will assist you as you go through surgery and weight loss. They have been down the same path, can help answer questions and generally help you understand how life has and will change. An Angel will visit you in the hospital as well as be available by phone when you go home.
