Scott & White Institutional Funding
The Scott & White Research Foundation is an intramural resource to support research activities for a variety of purposes including:
- Helping new researchers undertake pilot projects that will enable them to successfully apply for extramural sources of funding and aid in establishing their careers as independent investigators
- Helping established researchers perform exploratory research, particularly on novel or pioneering ideas, to determine their feasibility and develop preliminary data to support extramural applications
- Providing support in disciplines where extramural support is difficult to obtain yet where significant research can be facilitated with modest funding
- Providing modest institutional matching funds that are awarded contingent upon a successful external peer-reviewed application that requires an institutional match
Scope Disciplines: The Research Foundation supports research in all health care related disciplines
Terms: Grants are awarded for a single year only.
Budget: Applications up to $40,000 will be accepted for review.
Eligibility
- Scott & White employees, at any professional level
- Trainees (Scott & White employed, residents and fellows) are eligible to apply for grants requesting a maximum of $3,000 in funding
- TAMU faculty who are not Scott & White employees but are Temple-based and have taken residents and/or fellows into their research programs as key personnel, as part of their training/mentoring, are eligible to submit one grant application with the resident and/or fellow as co-investigator. These applications must be submitted in a timely fashion to allow the resident or fellow ample time to complete their role in the project, which usually means before beginning the final year of training
- Faculty are encouraged to have at least one student/resident/fellow as an actively participating co-investigator.
- Projects with trainees as co-investigators will be given special consideration in the review process.
