Medical Research Building (MRB) Radiation Safety
The radiation safety program at the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine (TAMUSHSC-COM) Medical Research Building (MRB) in Temple exists to protect employees, students, and visitors as well as the public and the environment from the harmful effects of exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiations. The University is committed to meeting all applicable regulatory requirements imposed by the State of Texas or the United States government and to keeping doses from licensed sources of radiation As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA). Social, technological and economic factors are taken into account.
The MRB Radiation Safety Program Manual (pdf) has been approved by the TAMUSHSC-COM Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The safety program manual is issued and maintained by the TAMUSHSC-COM Office of Research Laboratory Compliance (ORLC). The MRB Laboratory Procedure Manual for Radioactive Materials (pdf) contains radiation safety-related procedures and guidelines for use by laboratory personnel.
