Shuttle service from Waco to Temple (and back)

A shuttle between the Scott & White Waco Clinic and the Temple campus was started in March. Waco-area patients can now board the shuttle van at the Waco Clinic and be carried to Temple for appointments at the main Scott & White Clinic.

“This is a scheduled service for our Waco patients who have an appointment with one of our Temple-based specialists,” said Waco Clinic Manager Terri Taylor. “This shuttle will be very important to our older Waco patients. Some have been seeing a physician in Temple for as long as 20 years or more, but who cannot drive themselves to Temple anymore. This is a real life-saver for them.”

The rides are scheduled like an appointment with patients calling the Waco Clinic at 254-741-4444. The driver will then have a list of patients' names and their destinations.

The shuttle van makes two round-trips each day, in the morning and afternoon. Patients are dropped off at the appropriate clinic entrance in Temple for their appointment. Patients are picked up and returned to Waco at either 1 p.m. or 5 p.m.

“Based on the success of the University Medical Campus Care-a-Van shuttle from the Georgetown Clinic next to Sun City, we decided to see if it can work up here,“ said Taylor. ”This is all about customer service to our patients. As long as the appointment is on the main Temple campus location we can do it."
