Celebrating 20 Years of Service to the Community

Gatesville staff

Scott & White Gatesville Clinic is celebrating its 20-year birthday in April. A luncheon event marked the occasion for the staff and invited guests from the Coryell Memorial Hospital.

A merger with the Gatesville Medical Center in 1987 expanded the old Scott & White regional clinic location and relocated it next to Coryell Memorial Hospital.

Tim Maynard, M.D. and Steve Norris, M.D. were members of the original physician staff of nine at the Gatesville Clinic. Dr. Norris said the staff has maintained a high sense of unity over the years.

"We are like a family," said Dr. Norris, a general surgeon. "There is a great feeling of teamwork and we depend on each other."

According to Dr. Maynard, the medical director, the clinic plays an important role in the community.

"Like Scott & White in general, people living in this area have come to depend on us," said Dr. Maynard. "This is a small town and we help provide some key services that add to the quality of life here. I think that is a very rewarding feeling for all of us at the clinic."

The original Scott & White Gatesville Clinic was established in 1985 with two physicians serving a population of 8,500. After the 1987 merger, patient visit numbers jumped to more than 27,000 a year. Ten years ago the location had a $1.2 million expansion. Scott & White has a contract to provide management services for the neighboring Coryell Memorial Hospital.
