Mission

Our Mission is to educate ministers in the art and science of pastoral care according to the standards of ACPE, Inc. and to provide other educational events that help local ministers in maintaining the health of people they serve.

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is an experience in process education which has been shaped by history and yet remains responsive to the present day cultural developments. Believing students bring much experience with them to CPE, we seek to create a learning environment based on respect for the learner, mutuality, clear expectations and a mutual covenant.

Scott & White recognizes the importance of the mind, body and spirit connection and therefore provides a supportive environment for pastoral ministry. CPE is the primary means through which Scott & White provides pastoral care as a clinically integrated 24-hour-a-day direct patient care service.

Clinical assignments allow students to witness the effectiveness of ministry in real-life situations. Because of the complete range of services at Scott & White, CPE students are ensured a wide variety of ministry experiences and opportunities to function as members of many clinical teams.
