Scott & White to celebrate grand opening of new Blood Center
TEMPLE, Texas – Scott & White will hold a grand opening for its expanded Blood Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 3.
The new Scott & White Blood Center is more than twice as large as the former center, and is located inside Scott & White Memorial Hospital across from the McLane Dining Room.
The new, larger center will help accommodate the growing demand for blood in Central Texas.
“As the only Level I Trauma Center between San Antonio and Dallas, Scott & White is always in urgent need of blood,” said Jennifer Roden, blood donor recruitment manager. An average of 60 pints of blood are transfused every day to patients treated at Scott & White for various surgical procedures, cancer treatments, accidents and trauma events.
A dedication ceremony will take place at noon, followed by a ribbon cutting with representatives from the Temple Chamber of Commerce and tours of the new blood center.
The Scott & White Blood Center is one of the oldest and most established blood donation centers in the state and maintains its blood supply from donors throughout the community. All of the blood collected at the center stays in Central Texas to benefit area residents.
