Marathon Routes
The Toughest Little Marathon in Texas is getting tougher....and more beautiful!
Check back with us soon to see our new 2008 routes for the marathon and half marathon.
We will change the 2007 course descriptions below when we have finalized the new course.
The Full Marathon: (Marathon Map
) The first half of the course is fairly flat but slowly inclines to the half way point. The course begins at the historic Waco Suspension Bridge and goes through Baylor University and the Heritage Village. Circling back to the suspension bridge, the course turns and follows Austin Avenue through the historic downtown area. The course continues down Austin Avenue, past some of Waco's most beautiful homes. Shortly after the ¼ relay point, the course turns to go by the Heart of Texas Fairgrounds and Coliseum before turning onto Lake Shore Drive, following Lake Waco. The half marathon route is along Lake Waco Drive.
The second half of the course allows a runner to truly "meet their match." The ½ relay point is along the rolling hills of Lake Shore Drive. The course continues to the Lake Waco Dam. After crossing most of the dam, the course continues past the soccer fields and back to Lake Shore Drive. The course then turns into the McLennan Community College campus. The ¾ point is at the baseball field of the college. From there, runners start uphill to the campus and are quickly surrounded by the beautiful trees of Cameron Park while they make their way through the rolling hills that will challenge even the most seasoned marathon runner. After leaving Cameron Park, the course crosses the Brazos River to follow the river walk on MLK until reaching the suspension bridge. The conclusion of the course is crossing the beautiful, historic suspension bridge.
This challenging course will have rest stops approximately every mile where runners can enjoy water and electrolyte drinks and fruit will be available at some rest stops. The relay staging areas will include portable toilets. All races finish by crossing the historic suspension bridge in Indian Springs Park.

The half-marathon will go as far as the ¼ relay point with the full marathon, then reverse back to the river, through the Pecan Bottoms of Cameron Park, across the Herring Street Bridge, following the river walk on MLK, and then back across the suspension bridge. (Half-marathon Map
)
Marathon Relays:
The ¼ relay point is located just north of Central and Austin. The ½ relay point is on Lake Shore Drive across from Savannah Court, and the ¾ relay point is on College Street at the baseball parking lot. Parking is available at all relay points.
The 5-K Race:
The 5-K will go through Baylor University and the Heritage Village, then circle back down University Parks to Franklin, where it crosses the Brazos, continuing to the suspension bridge. (5-K Map)
