Chairman's Report
Welcome to the Department of Family Medicine at Scott & White Clinic, Texas A&M College of Medicine!
The Scott & White Department of Family Medicine has been serving the healthcare needs of Central Texans since 1978. We now have almost 100 family physicians in the department who practice and teach the principles of family medicine to medical students, residents and other healthcare professionals. Our commitment to excellence in patient care and the education of medical students and residents keeps our faculty at the top of their game practicing cutting edge medicine. In all of our 15 clinical sites, we provide family medicine care to patients of all ages.
The academic affiliation we have with Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine enriches the learning environment in our 400+ bed primary teaching hospital in Temple, Texas as well as in the regional clinics. This relationship with a major university positively impacts the clinicians in their office practices where many of them regularly have medical students accompanying them. We also have an active division of research, headed by a full time director of research. Our practice based research network (PBRN), one of approximately 60 in the U.S., has 70+ physicians, nurses, family medicine residents and medical students involved in family medicine research activities.
Please explore the department web pages to learn more about our vibrant organization.
