Residency Program
The Eye Institute has one of the most highly regarded residency training programs in the United States. The formal residency program in Ophthalmology began in 1964, and in 1972 the Scott & White Clinic and Hospital formally affiliated with Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. Every resident who has completed the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine – Scott & White Residency Program in the past 24 years has been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Current residents and alumni as a group have scored well above the national average on the nationally standardized OKAP examination every year for the past 21 years.
The Scott & White Eye Institute Ophthalmology Residency Program is based on a three-year curriculum designed to equip each graduating resident with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice general ophthalmology independently and competently.
