Division of Education

Education has been an important part of the mission of Scott & White since its founding. Both Dr. Scott and Dr. White believed in progress through education, research and reason.

Scott & White offers educational programs and training opportunities to those pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, research and the allied health sciences. Educational opportunities include medical and graduate education, residencies and fellowships, the allied health professions and continuing education programs.

Medical Education

The partnership between Scott & White and the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine (TAMHSCCOM) has attained national recognition as one of the finest Colleges of Medicine. Medical students complete their first two years of basic science study on the TAMHSCCOM College Station campus and their last two years on the Scott & White campus for the clinical sciences of pediatrics, family practice, internal medicine, psychiatry, obstetrics/gynecology and general surgery. Also affiliated with Scott & White and TAMHSCCOM are the Central Texas Veteran's Health Care System, Darnall Army Community Hospital and Driscoll Children's Hospital.

Nursing Education

Nursing education at Scott & White began in the early 1900s. Today's nurses continue to benefit from this legacy. Opportunities for continuing one's nursing education abound for nurses employed institution-wide and other nurses throughout the state of Texas and beyond.

Since 1990, unique approaches to graduate nursing education have also been available through collaboration with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Completion of a master's degree in nursing, culminating in certification as a nurse practitioner, leadership in nursing systems, or clinical nurse specialist is available.
