The Scott & White pediatric nephrology program promotes vital patient care for children. We provide consultation and instruction to our staff in all aspects of nephrology to give your child the very best healthcare.

Nephrology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of:

• Diseases of the kidneys
• Disorders of bone metabolism
• Derangement of body chemistry
• Diagnosis and therapy of severe or complicated high blood pressure (hypertension)

The Children's Hospital at Scott & White handles other special cases involving chronic conditions with:

• Anomalies that result in impaired renal function
• Chronic urinary tract infections
• Long term infections that can destroy kidney function
• Problems with the urinary tract system
• Structural abnormalities

Dialysis

Scott & White transfers dialysis patients to Austin for management, but will initiate acute peritoneal dialysis for emergency management.
