Diagnostic Radiology Support
The physicists at Scott & White supporting Diagnostic Radiology are intimately familiar with the:
- Principles of imaging physics and of radiation protection
- Current guidelines of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP)
- Laws pertaining to the performance of the equipment being tested
- Function, clinical uses and performance specifications of the imaging equipment
- Calibration processes and limitations of the instruments used for testing performance
The medical physicists perform initial and annual surveys of diagnostic imaging equipment and review, interpret and approve all data measurement.
The diagnostic radiology physicists at Scott & White are certified in diagnostic physics by the American Board of Radiology and hold licenses from the Texas Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists renewed annually having satisfied the Board's criteria for Continuing Medical Education.
