Designs of Hope, A Children's Project
Designs of Hope, A Children's Project is an art program for children at Scott & White. The children show off their creativity by designing artwork for cards, pins and bags. Proceeds from the sale of these items directly support Child Life Camps, a program that sends children for rest, recreation and disease management.

Designs of Hope Timeline
- 1986: A pediatric patient's relative had an idea: sell Christmas corsages as a fundraiser to meet the special needs of pediatric patients and their families. Thus, the Children's Holiday Project was born.
- 1986: Dr. Lawrence Frankel, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, joins Scott & White
- October 1986: Dr. Frankel treats his first patient: a girl from Hewitt, Texas with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She is now an elementary school teacher in Plano, Texas.
- 1987: Scott & White becomes a member institution of the Pediatric Oncology Group (now the Children's Oncology Group), giving patients access to cutting-edge chemotherapy trials.
- 1988: Children's Miracle Network provides a $600 grant to purchase machinery to produce pins and magnets using artwork drawn by pediatric patients.
- 1990: First greeting card is produced and sold.
- 2001: Children's Holiday Project is renamed to Designs of Hope, A Children's Project. The name reflects the sentiment found in every child's drawing that paints a picture of hope.
