Appointment Questions

How do I make an appointment?
Appointments can be made at Scott & White by calling locally 254-724-2111 or toll-free 800-792-3710 in the U.S. In Mexico, call 001-800-551-8866. A doctor referral may be necessary for some specialty areas or services. We welcome physicians to call our Physician Referral Network (Temple Main) at 800-792-3368 or (University Medical Campus in Roundrock) at 866-509-9191 to schedule a referral.

Is it necessary for a new patient to bring past medical records or have them transferred?
It is helpful if you have chronic or pre-existing conditions. Bringing or arranging to have your records sent may avoid duplication of diagnostic tests or procedures. We always appreciate information on a person's past medical treatment when it is available.

How long does an overall diagnostic (complete physical) examination usually take?
The length of time to complete a full diagnostic work up may vary depending on the tests and consultative advice your coordinating physician needs. Many services such as simple laboratory tests, EKGs and plain x-rays may be completed on the same day. However, more sophisticated tests or procedures may require more time to prepare the patient, complete the test or procedure and thoroughly examine the results. While every effort is made to schedule all required appointments within a few days or less, there are occasions when a patient is asked to schedule a return visit for a specific test or specialty physician consultation.

Do you accept my insurance?
Scott and White will file an insurance claim to your major medical insurance carrier for all charges associated with your healthcare. However, we do not know your coverage. We strongly suggest you contact your insurance company (you should have a phone number on the back of your insurance card) to determine if, and how much, they will pay for services rendered at Scott & White. Any balance left unpaid by your insurance company is your responsibility.

Is Scott & White a Medicare Provider?

Can you tell me the expected cost of my office visit or medical care?
One of our financial counselors could give you an estimated range for services.

Do you provide special assistance for the impaired or disabled?
Yes. If you will need special assistance during your visit to Scott & White, please tell the appointment clerk exactly what your needs are, so that you may be given appropriate services, and arrangements made in advance.

Do you provide valet parking?
Yes. Valet Parking is available at the Mabee Clinic entrance. This free service is being provided primarily for those who need assistance due to the longer walking distances necessitated by changes to the Scott & White campus.
