July is good time to donate blood at Scott & White
- One donor will win a $200 gas card -
TEMPLE, Texas - Summer is the most challenging time of the year for blood centers trying to keep their supplies at proper levels.
"We want to have at least three days blood supply on hand at any given time. That is considered ideal," said Dr. Walter Linz, director of the Scott & White Blood Center. "But in most years, donations drop while demand remains stable, and occasionally increases. We want to prevent a crisis by collecting now since we know how the traditional summer pattern goes."
During July, everyone who donates to the Scott & White Blood Center will receive a free baseball jersey, a free baseball squeezie, 12 free wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, a free 4-pack of Frostie Root Beer, and the chance to win the $200 gas card. View July giveaways

"The blood that Scott & White collects benefits our Central Texas community," said Blood Donor Recruiter Emily Brown. "The summer is always a challenging time for us. We need to let everyone know they can make a difference by donating blood at least once this summer."
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh more than 110 pounds. Each donor must present a picture ID in order to be registered to donate.
The Scott & White Blood Center is located on the first floor of Scott & White, between the healing garden and McLane Dining Room. The Blood Center will be open for the entire month of July, excluding weekends and Friday, July 4. For more information, please call 254-724-HERO (4376) or 877-724-HERO (4376).
