The Program Mission
The mission of the program is to provide a quality, comprehensive education, to prepare skilled, competent, laboratory scientists, meeting the needs of the institution and the profession.

As a student at Scott & White, you will have many advantages not available in other programs. Scott & White's laboratories are full-service and equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to experience other laboratory settings, such as a clinic lab, a small general hospital lab and a veterans administration hospital lab. Your professional education will include an entire spectrum of laboratory testing and you will gain experience with a variety of laboratory instruments.
The program also has a reputation of excellence. Since 1994, all graduates of our program have passed at least one of the national certification examinations!
What is the cost of the program?
There is a $500 non-refundable administrative fee that is charged for the program. Books, course handbooks and personal protective equipment are provided at no cost.
The Faculty
Instruction in the program is provided by dedicated and knowledgeable laboratory professionals. Physicians, certified clinical laboratory scientists and other laboratory professionals from the program's clinical affiliates, as well as Scott & White, participate in lectures, student laboratories and in one-on-one instruction at the bench. Many faculty members have national reputations and are active in laboratory related professional organizations.
Central Texas Living
Scott & White Hospital is located in Temple, Texas, about one hour north of Austin and 30 minutes south of Waco. Living in this area offers a mixture of both urban and rural lifestyles. There are numerous opportunities to enjoy sports, cultural and recreational activities. Two nearby lakes, Lake Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lake, provide boating, fishing, swimming, water skiing, picnicking, camping and other outdoor activities. In short, living in the Central Texas area offers a quality of life that is hard to beat!
