What is Scott & White?
The Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic, began its rich history over 100 years ago in the late 1800s. As decades passed, Scott & White has combined that heritage of healing with the future of hope, expanding to 15 regional clinics, serving over 2,000,000 in the Central Texas Region. Recognized as a 100 Top Hospital in Cardiology, and also as a Top 15 Academic hospital, Scott & White combines more than 550 physicians and scientists in a multi-disciplinary team medicine approach, with groundbreaking research and an academic affiliation with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. And as one of the charter members of the Temple Bioscience District, Scott & White continues its mission to promote health care education, embracing young individuals to become a part of its health care family to continue into the future with its world of healing.
Where is Scott & White located?
Scott & White's main facilities (hospital, clinic, health plan) are located in the heart of Central Texas at 2401 S. 31st St. in Temple, Texas. Situated on a 260-acre hilltop, Scott & White is just two miles east of the Interstate 35 corridor, and can be seen for several miles upon approaching Temple from any direction. Patients and visitors exit IH 35 onto the H. K. Dodgen Loop (Loop 363) at exit 299, then travel east to 31st Street. Scott & White is to the north on 31st. Does Scott & White offer specialty medical care?
Scott & White has more than 500 physicians who practice all types of medicine. Most medically recognized services are available at Scott & White. Scott & White has core centers of emphasis including cardiovascular, bone/joint and spine, women’s services, pediatrics, hematology/oncology and cancer research.
What types of insurance does Scott & White accept?
Scott & White offers a health plan to residents of Central Texas. Currently, there are 186,000 members of this plan which is available to large and small groups, seniors and individuals. In addition to the Scott & White Health Plan, Scott & White accepts and takes assignment on most major insurances including CHAMPUS. All of the physicians who work for the Scott & White Health Plan are approved by the Scott & White Clinic.
What accommodations are available for out-of-town patients or visitors?
The Hilton Garden Inn at Scott & White is located two miles off of Interstate Highway 35 and situated directly across 31st Street from the Scott & White main campus. Conveniently located, the inn sits within walking distance of shopping facilities, movie theaters and several restaurants. A free shuttle service ferries guests to and from the Scott & White campus.
All rooms are non-smoking and feature a work desk, two dual-line telephones, voice mail, dial-up data port and complimentary high speed Internet access. Each room includes a microwave oven, refrigerator, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, hair dryer, and iron and an ironing board. Call 254-773-0200.
Scott & White also operates a 36-pad recreational vehicle park on the grounds for patients, family members and visitors who travel long distances and may need to stay for several days or weeks. Reservations/information: 254-778-6927.
Other area motels include Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Hospitality Inn, Howard Johnson, La Quinta Inn and Guest House Inn. Check their individual websites for reservation information in the Temple area.
